The American People As A Check On Power

Donald Trump is President of the United States of America. It was a long hard battle for Donald Trump. The People stood up, stopped being scared to say what was on their mind, believed we could beat The Enemy, shared ideas with one another using new technologies, kept pushing, and delivered the Presidency to Mr. Trump.
America should be proud of The People acting as a check on Power. This process is exactly as the Founders of our nation designed the system. We are all taught about the three branches of the Federal government acting as checks and balances against each other in school. These checks exist only within one level of government (Federal) and I call these horizontal checks and balances. The Founders also built into our system of government a different type of checks and balances that are NO LONGER taught in our schools. These checks on Power originate from the different levels of government (States/the People) and are called vertical checks and balances. See below for a visual representation:
The three branches of the Federal government are supposed to act as checks on each other. However, there are times when, as we have recently experienced under both Republican and Democratic rule, that these three Federal branches of government are taken over by the same people and are corrupted. Our Founders, anticipated just such a scenario and intended that the States and the People act as checks on the corruption of Federal Power. If checks and balances only existed in the Federal area of government, then it would be fairly easy to corrupt our governing system. The American system, however, includes checks and balances existing at different levels of our system just for this reason.
The general idea is there are checks within the different levels of government, but there also checks on Power that exist outside of just one level of government. Each check on Power works on every other source of Power (as indicated by the arrows in the diagram above) to keep our system of government protected and balanced.
The American People exercised their check on corrupted federal Power by electing Donald Trump. In order to truly make America Great Again, we must continue to exercise our checking of Power by pushing back on the many abuses currently taking place.
If it is a violation of the Constitution, it must be pushed back against. That includes policies originating from the Donald Trump Administration.
We have NOT won the war, only a big battle. We must persist!
